Library Staff

Our library wouldn’t be as successful as it is without the hard work of our staff and volunteers. They are the ones who check out your books, keep our shelves organized, and place holds for that new movie you just can’t wait to see.

Moon Library Board of Trustees

The Library Board of Trustees is in charge of executive decisions at Moon Township Public Library. It meets on the third Monday of every month at 6:00 PM.

Ted Dengel (Treasurer) has been an employee of FedEx Ground for 23 years where his current position is Director of Operations Technology.  He is responsible for research, development, and support of technology used throughout FedEx Ground operations.  He has been a resident of Moon Township for 9 years where he lives with his wife, Heather, and 2 sons, Severin and Finnian.  Ted is interested in supporting the Moon Library as it is a valuable resource for all pre-school and school-age children in the area and also to help with the expansion of the library from a traditional book-lending institution to a community center that provides modern resources and services.
Kathleen Madonna Emmerling (Secretary) began her relationship with books as a child in the basement of the B.F. Jones Memorial Library in Aliquippa.  Her love of reading blossomed as she majored in English and Political Science at Duquesne University. Upon graduation, she began working a variety of staff positions in higher education while earning an M.A. from Chatham University. She moved to Moon Township with her husband, Ed, in 2010 and began a career as a stay-at-home parent and volunteer. In addition to the Library, Kathleen can now be found working part-time for Stitch Fix wherever there is free Wi-Fi, tending her flock of heritage-breed chickens, or reading in the Moon baseball field bleachers.
Eric Fogle (Vice President) is a public school librarian in the Seneca Valley School District. There he works with various STEAM technology tools such as 3D printing, coding and robotics.  He is married and enjoys spending time with his three children.  He also coaches his son’s Odyssey of the Mind team which supports creative thinking and teamwork. He is an avid supporter of the Public Library system, and enjoys reading books every day.
Michelle Haudrich and family have lived in Moon Township for 8 years.  Her professional background is in media and event planning with a specialty in growing brand awareness for both individuals and corporations.  She was initially interested in serving on the board because her two elementary aged daughters have been attending library programs since before they could walk and these programs have helped them to develop a love of reading and community.
Dr. Mary Ann Rafoth (President) (University of Georgia) is Dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences and Professor of Education at Robert Morris University.  She previously served as Dean of the College of Education and Educational Technology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 2005 until 2011. Dr. Rafoth served as chairperson of the Educational and School Psychology Department at IUP from 1999 to 2005. She was also the Director of the Center for Educational and Program Evaluation and coordinated the Educational Psychology Master’s degree program and the School Psychology Certificate program and directed the department’s Child Study Center. She served on the Indiana Free Library Board of Directors in Indiana, PA for nine years before moving to Moon.
Adam Randall has been a resident of Moon Township for six years. He currently works in the Policy, Government and Public Affairs department at Chevron Appalachia, headquartered here in Moon. He has worked in a variety of professional library roles throughout my career, both public and academic. His decision to serve his local public library as a board member stems from years spent working as a library professional; he saw firsthand the value that open access to information resources and free library programming brings to a community. He wants to support his local information professionals in their stewardship of such an invaluable community resource.
Joe Tarquinio (Vice Treasurer) is a lifelong resident of Moon Twp.  Associate Broker w/Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, The Preferred Realty.  As our township grows, it is vital that services for our residents continue to expand.  He believes that we are indeed fortunate that our library plays an important role in this growth and must continue our support for this wonderful asset.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library is a group of literacy allies which help the library succeed through awareness campaigns and fundraisers. The Friends meet on the last Monday of every month at 7:15 PM.
