  • Khan Academy: A free online education website which provides test prep for the SAT, MCAT, NCLEX-RN, GMAT, CAHSEE, and IIT JEE.
  • Peterson’s: A college database and guide to tests, scholarships, resumes, and the college admission process.
  • Princeton Review: Admissions help, test prep, colleges searches, and tutoring.

College

  • Higher Education Resources: A list of local college websites and financial aid resources by the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
  • Khan Academy: A free online education website which includes a guide to college admissions.
  • NEED: A scholarship and mentoring organization that provides aid and guidance for Pittsburgh’s under-served  and minority youth.
  • Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA): Pennsylvania’s guide to scholarships and colleges for students of all ages.
  • Peterson’s: A college database and guide to tests, scholarships, resumes, and the college admission process.
  • Pittsburgh Foundation Scholarship Search: Find scholarships for students of all ages in the Pittsburgh area.
  • Princeton Review: Admissions help, test prep, colleges searches, and tutoring.
  • Tuition Funding Sources: Students can search for scholarships and financial aid, take personality and career aptitude tests, and find detailed college information. Create an account using your email address and contact information. For the drop-down menu “How did you find out about the TFS website?” select Library and set Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh as your school.

  • Duolingo: Interactive language-learning program for all ages. Covers 28 different languages including English as a Second Language, Esperanto, and Klingon. Usable online or as an AndroidiOS, or Windows app. Users must register with an email account.
  • Khan Academy: Learn a variety of subjects including math, coding, economics, and humanities.
  • Mango Languages: Interactive online language learning for all ages. Languages include Spanish, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Korean and English as a Second Language. Log in as a guest or by creating an account using your email address. You must have an account to save your progress.

  • Harvard Writing Guides: Harvard’s ebooks for writing college papers in different majors.
